Business intelligence (BI) and data analytics is in the midst of a revolution due to the democratization of data, the rise of big data, real-time predictive analytics, AI and machine learning techniques. This new era of augmented analytics empowers people of all skills and experience to focus on critical business needs, minimizing the need for heavy-lifting in terms of visualizations, finding insights, and managing volumes of data in spreadsheets and databases. Cleaning, transforming, and modeling data to discover useful information for business decision-making is the basis of this program. The purpose of data analysis within this project is to extract useful information from data and taking the decision based upon the data analysis.
IBM Cognos Analytics is an advanced analytics and BI solution that uses augmented intelligence to streamline workflows, minimize errors and bias, and uncover compelling insights through pattern detection and other advanced techniques.
Cognos Analytics helps small and large organizations maximize the value of their data, unearth insights, tell stories, and respond in real time to customer demands and business needs. About PROGRAM
WPE is a four-week Workplace Education Program that provides a virtual platform for students in the areas of finance, business, technology and analytics. This is an opportunity for them to apply their learning in a real finance / business / technology / analytic environment to cultivate management concepts and develop skills and expertise they are unable to attain in their university studies.
Project Objective
In a post-pandemic world, businesses now more than ever need to find resilience and adapt to the new reality. We know businesses need to investigate trends, challenges, and disruptions facing their organizations today in order to plan for the future. Using a variety of data analytics techniques including text analysis, statistical analysis, diagnostic analysis, predictive analysis, and prescriptive analysis using data mining tools and working with big data and statistics, students will develop a deep understanding of the market for augmented analytics and in turn will help to define key use cases that leverage the capabilities of Cognos Analytics to meet the needs of business today, and create a compelling go-to-market strategy to engage prospective users and conquests.
Kasun Attanapola
Principal Product Manager, IBM
Kasun Attanapola is a principal product manager at IBM Data & AI. In his role, Kasun is responsible for bringing together the market landscape, design and technology to nurture software from prototype to launch. His areas of expertise include, AI, Data Visualization, Data science and Business Intelligence.
Lisa Marie Chen
Currently, championing design strategy for IBM's AI Application portfolio: Planning Analytics, Cognos Analytics, Watson Assistant, Watson Discovery, and RegTech; acting at the intersection of design, research, business analysis, and innovation.
Within this project we will use business intelligence to look backward at historical data to describe things that have happened using IBM Cognos, while data analytics within this project will use data science techniques to predict what will or should happen the future business of IBM.
Business intelligence in this project will involve the use of data to help make business decisions. This Business Intelligence refers to the technologies, applications, and practices for the collection, integration, analysis, and presentation of business information in this sense. The purpose of utilizing IBM Cognos Analytics ] is to support better business decision-making. However, this cannot be achieved without the use of data analytics in the descriptive, predictive, and perspective scope to provide IBM an all-encompassing picture of best practices and future strategies.
